Remote Monitoring & Control of PV Plants
The new legislation (Article 9A, Law 4951/2022) requires every self-producer with a photovoltaic (PV) plant or an energy storage system with an installed capacity above 400 kW to implement a telemetry and remote control system, in accordance with the specifications of HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator). This obligation applies to all forms of self-consumption:
- Net Metering or Virtual Net Metering
- Net Billing or Virtual Net Billing
- Installations with or without grid injection
- Systems with or without energy storage.
The Solution
Ether, in cooperation with Intracom Telecom, provides a complete, modular, turnkey telemetry and remote control solution for PV plants—from feasibility study and design to full commissioning and operation. The solution is designed to be applicable to any existing plant configuration and is fully compliant with HEDNO technical requirements. It is based on the RTU7M Remote Terminal Unit by the European manufacturer ELVAC, with more than 25,000 installations across renewable energy networks in Europe.
